Susan Kohl, MD, Co-Chair

Alliance Women in Medicine Membership/Program Committees

A product of Austin, Susan chose to stay in Texas at UT Southwestern Medical School to continue her journey to become a doctor. After completing her residency at Parkland in Internal Medicine, she has been a hospitalist at Baylor University Medical Center for 26 years. While she still sees hospitalized patients, her primary responsibilities for the hospital are in improving quality metrics, decreasing inpatient mortality, improving the hospital throughout and helping lead the group, Hospital Medicine-Dallas, as the Associate Medical Director. She and her husband Vince Rowe have a blended family with seven children, ages 18-26. Starting this fall, they will be empty nesters. We do not see how she has been able to do all of this, but she loves hiking, gardening, live music, swing dancing and traveling.

The Position

She accepted the position of building the Alliance Women in Medicine, a group that brings together colleagues for down time together, for meeting new friends in and out of medicine, for learning others’ processes for managing their medical practice and family and to share with the extended medical family joyful gatherings and enriching programs – medical, cultural, historic and educational. The group will also have opportunities to serve the community, help influence programs of the Alliance and to earn CME credit while attending the DCMSAF excellent speaker programs on medical themes.
