About the Fund
Supporting Dallas County's Future Nurses
Since 1954, the DCMSAF Board of Trustees of the Edith Cavell Nursing Scholarship Fund has awarded scholarships to exceptional Baccalaureate nursing students in Dallas County. The scholarship offers financial support and professional mentorship, built on the understanding that best practice in medicine requires exceptional bedside nursing to achieve clinical success.
The Board of Trustees reviews all applications and awards scholarships to applicants demonstrating dedication to bedside nursing in Dallas County. Scholarships are awarded in late spring or summer for the fall semester, and may be renewed for up to a total of four semesters, contingent on continued compliance with fund requirements.
All Applicants and Continuing Scholars Must
Hold United States citizenship
Be a full-time student — minimum 12 credit hours/semester, or as designated by the nursing program
Present with, and maintain, a cumulative GPA of 3.0
Be accepted or enrolled in an accredited Baccalaureate Nursing program in Dallas County
Reveal and describe the need for financial aid to pursue academic study
Attend the DCMSAF annual scholar recognition event if schedule permits

Gather the items below before submitting your application. Scholarships may also be awarded to incoming scholars entering a Baccalaureate nursing program the following spring semester.

Acceptance letter from an accredited Baccalaureate nursing program in Dallas County
Current official transcript(s) from the university/universities of record
Letter of recommendation from an academic professor
Character reference from a non-relativeLetter of recommendation from an academic professor
A photograph of the applicant, with consent to share with DCMSAF members and social media
