Aldredge House Preservation Fund

Your donation will contribute to a fund established through the contributions of philanthropists Jeanne Aldredge, Ruth Altshuler, Margaret McDermott and Gene Jones in 2015. It was created for the purpose of the preservation and operations of Aldredge House, the incubator and launching pad for community outreach and all programming of the Medical Alliance. It is one of Dallas’ most historic and architecturally significant homes. Donations go to maintaining Aldredge House as a museum home and public meeting place, offering unique educational programs, events, and Living History performances that bring history to life for the community and visitors.

Built in 1917 and established as the headquarters for the DCMSA in 1974, Aldredge House has been carefully restored, preserved and shared with other non-profits and members of the community.

Benefactors Endowment Fund (BEF) (Benefactors Fund)

Through prudent financial management, in order to grow the original fund  from 1923 called the Reserve Fund, another fund was blended with it. On May 5, 1993, the Ruth and Grace Talkington Fund, created by a generous gift from the late Perry Talkington, MD, in honor of his late first wife Ruth and his current wife at the time of the gift, Grace Talkington, now deceased, was merged with the Reserve Fund to  create the Benefactors Fund  This major fund supports grants to the DCMSAF philanthropies, community non-profits in line with our mission, special projects such as community outreach and, in general, to secure the future and properties of the Alliance and to provide and produce funds for its projects.

Bayles Elementary School

Your donation will support various health-related projects at this underserved DISD elementary school located in far East Dallas. Programs such as screenings, immunizations, materials on health education, field trips and nutrition will be presented. Additionally DCMSAF volunteers will provide mentors and tutors for literacy through the national Reading Partners program and will import to the school such TMA projects as Hard Hats for Little Heads, and Walk with a Doc for students and their families. An interesting fact is that the school is considered to be the first school in the Settlement of Dallas and believed to have been established in 1856.
