Dear Members,

I hope your holiday season has been peaceful, healthy and happy. This month we celebrated the Edith Cavell Scholarship recipients December 5th. Our Nursing students enjoyed a night out at the Woodlands Grill with special guest Dr. Linda Plank, Dean of the Baylor University Louise Herrington School of Nursing, a special thank you to Libby Luterman for hosting the evening and for her exceptional job as Chair of the Scholarship fund.

The holiday luncheon held December 7th was festive and well attended. The TMAA President, Libby White, flew in from Lubbock, Texas to attend as our special guest. Congratulations to all the raffle winners. We may have a new tradition beginning! Thank you to our exceptional Aldredge House Committee for always making everything so special.

The Friends of Aldredge House performed a special living history museum on December 11th with a reception afterwards. Holiday tours of the AH were given December 17th,18th and 19th by the FOAH. Additionally, the Friends of Aldredge House are hosting a spectacular Twelfth Night Celebration on January 7th at the Stubbs House with the proceeds benefiting the preservation of the Aldredge House.

Let us give thanks to our member Lynn Snider, and her sister Avanell Patton, for the impressive jewelry show in Lynn’s home. They donated 20% of the sales to the Aldredge House and donated a beautiful coral necklace to the holiday raffle. The sisters have been designing jewelry for more than 40 years.

Our Young Alliance hosted the family open house December 12th complete with carols, crafts, balloon art, refreshments, games, the Swiss Avenue neighborhood piggie, and a horse drawn carriage rides! Thank you to Liza Raynor, President of the YA, and her committee for organizing such a cheerful family party.

Both the Harvard Club and the Dallas County Historical Commission held meetings in the AH this December. We have received flattering notes from both organizations as to the beauty of the house and the wonderful hospitality offered them.

Now, for a big announcement: the Dallas County Medical Society Board of Directors has bestowed the DCMS Award of Distinction to the Alliance and Foundation for the Beyond Duty: A Gift to the World dinner held November 18th. This honor will be awarded on January 19, 2023 during the DCMS installation and Awards Ceremony. We owe a debt of gratitude to Chairs Kaki Hopkins and RuLan Hebeler, and everyone on the committee for their tireless work and dedication. It was an extraordinary evening, and they deserve all the accolades! The announcement letter from the DCMS is included below.
