Tour Central Market with generous food samples while visiting with Valerie Jarvie, Co-Author of the Zagat Texas Restaurant Book and Philanthropy Chair of the Dallas Chapter of the Les Dames d’Escoffier. She’ll answer our questions on food, giving back to the community, and how we can help. The location is 4349 Northwest Highway (at Midway Road) at 11:00 a.m.

Valerie Jarvie is a longtime food writer for The Dallas Morning News, Modern Luxury Dallas Magazine, Zagat.com, Edible DFW and is the co-author of the Zagat Texas Restaurant Book. (Fun fact: She got her foot into the door of food writing with Park Cities/Preston Hollow People profiles & recipes from DCMSA members Sarah Hardin and Shannon Callewart.) In 2018, she joined Central Market at Midway and Northwest Highway as a member of the group responsible for events, product sampling and cooking demonstrations. Valerie stepped down from the Lead role of the team in 2023 to allow more time to participate in various community service projects. She is the Philanthropy Chair of the Dallas Chapter of Les Dames d’ Escoffier, which will be hosting Hoot n’ Hollar, a festival of bands, barbecue and bourbon, Saturday, September 21st at Tate Farms in Rockwall to benefit culinary-related scholarships and nonprofit organizations serving area women.
