Beyond Duty: A GIFT TO THE WORLD
Featuring Peter Hotez, MD, PhD and Maria Elena Bottazzi, PhD
Nominated for the 2022 Nobel Peace Prize
Invitation to follow

Dallas County Medical Society and Dallas County Medical Society Alliance Foundation are teaming up to Celebrate Doctors Day 2022 with a dinner event on April 1 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel.
Texas physician, Dr. Hotez, and his colleague of twenty years, Dr. Bottazzi, have developed Corbevax, a Covid-19 vaccine that they are presenting to the world with an open patent. This work and their charitable gift to all nations has earned them the nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize.
The vaccine is inexpensive to reproduce for the benefit of low and middle-income countries in fighting Covid-19. After completing two Phase III clinical trials involving more than 3000 people, the vaccine was found to be safe, well tolerated and effective. The Indian government has purchased 300 million doses and an Indian company has already scaled production to produce 100 million doses a month.
“Dr. Bottazzi and I have worked together for years, and our purpose has never changed — to bring attention to the neglected diseases of poverty and build a new generation of vaccine in the pursuit of global vaccine diplomacy,” said Dr. Hotez. “With our COVID vaccine, which is inexpensive and easy to produce, our intent was to make it available to millions of people in the world who would otherwise not have access to COVID vaccines.”
Leading the event committee are Chair Kaki Hopkins and Co-Chairs Dr. Donna Casey and Dr. Robert Haley. Alliance volunteers, Dallas County physicians and DCMS staff make up the committee.
CDC guidelines will be followed for the event.
