A Message from the President

Dear Members,   Please welcome your Executive Board for 2022-23. *See attachment. All of us are looking forward to seeing everyone when we embark on another new year. Behind the scenes, plans are being made for both daytime and evening programs, health projects, and social gatherings. Our new corresponding secretary, Jeanie Chuang, is looking forward to hearing from everyone with your updates jeaniechuang@hotmail.com. The annual health fair at the Church of the Incarnation will be held August 13th from 1-3pm. I am including the flier for details. Past Presidents, Sandy Secor and Michelle Anderson, began this health fair 12 years ago and the need has continued to grow. All volunteer assistance, both medical and non-medical is greatly appreciated; come for any amount of time. Contact Deborah Parnell to sign up debparnell@sbcglobal.net.   An easy fundraising campaign for the month of September is North Texas Giving Day. We have two pages: The Aldredge House Preservation Fund and the Edith Cavell Nursing Scholarship. Beginning September 1st until midnight on the 22nd, donations may be made online to our pages. Community Foundation of Texas has made fundraising easy! If you would like to place a yard sign in your front lawn I can pick up and deliver to anyone interested. Posts to our social media will also keep information up to date and may be shared to friends outside of our membership. Strength in numbers! October will bring cooler weather and our annual membership drive. Be on the lookout for your renewal letter, and as always encourage friends to join.   On November 18th, a once in a lifetime event will be held, Beyond Duty A Gift to the World will take place at the Hyatt Regency. If you have not received a letter, please contact Kaki Hopkins kaki.beyondduty@gmail.com . You may secure your table now. The money raised will benefit numerous beneficiaries locally and statewide. Our holiday season will hold the annual Christmas luncheon on December 7th and perhaps a few more festive surprises!   Kay Hyland said it best the day of my installation that we must move forward with courage and a grateful heart. Perhaps this should be our theme for this year: Courageous Gratitude. In closing, I have a grateful heart for our exceptional Alliance and Foundation, and all the courageous members who have made us who we are.   Yours truly,
